THE rain held off and the sun shone on a fun filled day at Wolverley recreation ground for the annual village carnival. Our school was well represented by year seven Opening Minds students, ably
supported by the cast of Return to the Forbidden Planet, which had been performed, to much acclaim, earlier in the year. Perched on the back of a float, they sang songs from the hit musical as the
parade made its way around the village and other students walked alongside, rattling buckets and encouraging onlookers to donate their spare change.

AT the beginning of the school year, It’s quite easy to spot a year seven: they’re the ones with wide eyes, open mouths and anxious expressions as they scurry around the school, desperately
searching for the canteen, the gym or the library.

TO celebrate our status as a Specialist school, Wolverley held a “Specialism Fortnight” in July, during which every subject devised lessons on the theme Sixties America, which also tied in with the
theme for Wolverley Carnival. As can be imagined, this was wide open to interpretation and led to some very creative thinking.

THURSDAY, July 2 was a beautiful, sunny summer’s day – but as far as our year 11s were concerned there might as well have been storms, floods and plagues of locusts because they spent the day
closeted inside, primping and preening in readiness for their Prom Night, only venturing out for quick trips to the hairdressers (the girls were pretty busy too!).
