WORLD renowned pianist Peter Donohoe CBE is tinkling the ivories in Birmingham on Saturday.

Musicians from the Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra, Worcester Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of Saint John, Sinfonia of Birmingham and Eroica Camerata will be joining him.

The concert at St Martin's Church, Bull Ring, on Saturday at 1.30pm is to celebrate the opening of the Kimichi School, Birmingham's new music based secondary school.

Mr Donohoe will be discussing the importance of music in education and then performing Dvorak's 9th Symphony.

"It will be a real treat for music lovers as the concert is free so the atmosphere should be wonderful."

He has played every professional symphony orchestra in the UK and Ireland, including annual performances at the Proms for 17 years.
