DURAN DURAN fans will be hungry like the wolf to see a night of their idols' music in the grounds of Birmingham Botanical Gardens.

Tribute band Duran2 will be belting out all the Birmingham band's hits on the bandstand in the picturesque setting of the gardens on Sunday, August 16.

Neon brights, shaggy perms and leg warmers will be the order of the day as concertgoers will be able battle it out for the title of best 80s fancy dress.

The Duran2 concert is just one of a host of shows taking place at the Edgbaston-based venue this year with all musical tastes catered for, the next major event being the Rotary Country Music Festival in September.

James Wheeler, chief executive of Birmingham Botanical Gardens, said: “We’re thrilled to be welcoming Duran2 to our gardens for a night of guilt-free 80s nostalgia. The fancy dress competition will definitely get ticket holders in the mood to let loose to one of pop’s most celebrated bands.

“There’s nothing better than sitting outside enjoying live music."

He added: "Feel free to bring a picnic and enjoy some delicious snacks during the show. Who needs a muddy festival when great music is right on your door step?”

Visitors be able to buy treats from the Pavilion Tea Room to enjoy during the show.

Duran Duran ruled the New Romantic roost when they shot to stardom in the early 1980s after honing their look and talent in Birmingham's Rumrunner club.

Tickets for Duran2 cost £20 per person. Doors to the concert will open at 6.30pm, with music starting at 7.30pm, on Sunday, August 16. For more information and to purchase tickets visit www.birminghambotanicalgardens.org.uk/ or call 0121 454 1860.
