An incredible line of artists has been announced for the two day Shardfest festival in Birmingham.

The cream of Britain's pop industry will be performing at Norman Chamberlain Playing Fields in Shard End on Saturday July 23 and Sunday July 24.

The roll call of talent includes James Arthur, So Solid Crew's Asher D, Lisa Maffia and Romeo, Factor's Reggie and Bollie, Union J, Stooshie and Lemar.

And for Midlands music fans who love a little legends action then Birmingham 1980s reggae superstars Musical Youth are on the bill as are the Underclass with Roddie Radiation and Nevile Staple from The Specials.

Shardfest is now in its third year and this will be the biggest event yet with thousands expected to have fun in the sun.

As well as the music there will be a fun fair, dance demonstrations, childrens zone, sports zone, Polly's Play Bus, zorbing, animal demonstrations and arts and crafts stalls.

There will also be a vast array of food stands for people to enjoy.

Founder Ben Wilkins said: "We are delighted to have attracted such talent to Shardfest in our third year.

"We have came a long way from a group discussion on Facebook , Yes Shardfest was born from a group of friends on Facebook reminiscing about the fantastic Shard End Carnival from years gone by.

"Shard End had one of the oldest carnivals in the city of Birmingham dating back to the early 50’s. But in 2001 it ended thus taking away a great source of community cohesion."

He added: "So in January 2014 a group met to see if we could reignite the Carnival under the new name of Shardfest.

"We had the vision of putting together an event to bring the community together but with the extra attention to detail that the event had lacked thus leading to its downfall all those years before."

Shardfest was born with a five year plan to grow and become a major event not only in Shard End but the city and the eventually the country with purpose was to give back by setting up a Shardfest Legacy fund, which would allow the groups , charities even businesses to apply for funding to help them .

The Saturday line up will be James Arthur, Lisa Maffia, Asher D and DJ Sollie, Romeo, Musical Youth, Bailey McConnell, Derry Mensah and The Underclass.

Union J is headlining the Sunday line up with support from Lemar, Stooshie, Reggie and Bollie, Nathan Gurd, Little Liam, Samuel Rodgers Band, Peter Spence and UB40 tribute band Johnny2Bad.

Tickets are just £20 and below, and there will be none sold on the gate, for more information visit www.shardfest.co.uk.
