Taste of theatre with Hippodrome workshops
9:39am Tuesday 12th March 2013 in Lifestyle
ANY youngsters hankering after a life on stage will get the chance to see if it really could be a career for them this coming Easter when the Birmingham Hippodrome will be running its popular theatre workshops.
These are aimed at children between the ages of seven and 16 and will run from Monday, April 8 through to Friday, April 12 from 10am to 3pm each day.
The three separate workshops, and final performance, will be based on the shows that have played the Hippodrome stage in the past, present and future - including Sister Act, We Will Rock You, Phantom of the Opera and High Society.
No experience is necessary, and participants are encouraged to come along to have fun, meet new people and learn (or continue to develop) performance and technical theatre skills.
The performance workshops will be split into two age groups, seven-11 (primary) and 12 -16 (secondary), ande these theatrical workshops will explore different musical styles and will take place each day throughout the week in singing, dancing and drama.
The technical workshops are only for ages 12 – 16, secondary level and here participants will work alongside members of the Hippodrome’s technical team and learn exactly how shows are staged. Over the five days, they will learn how to rig lighting, how to create special effects, the secrets of stage management, creating concert quality sound, and working with film and projection.
The Performance and Technical workshops will run simultaneously and participants will work together on delivering a final performance for friends and families on Friday, April 12.
