THE Godfather of Acid House music is making a rare appearance in the Midlands next week.

Chicago based DJ Pierre, along with two friends, made the first ever Acid House record which created the dance music phenomenon which swept the planet in the late 1980s.

DJ Pierre is playing an extended three hour set at the Hare and Hounds, Kings Heath, on Saturday, March 28 as part of a Rave Against Racism promotion.

The DJ said: "My set will of course some acid house, techno, house music, and tech house. I will definitely bring the crowd up and take them on a musical journey through genre and time."

Jock Lee, founder of Rave Against Racism, said: "Legendary DJ Ron Hardy played that first Acid House record, Phuture, four times in one night at The Music Box club in 1985 and Acid House was born.

"We are proud to present the man behind that record, as well as many others, the godfather of Acid House, DJ Pierre. DJ Pierre will be playing an extended three hour set."

There will be support from Jock Lee, Lovely Helen, Dean Smith, Deano Ferrino and NJ Maxwell in what promises to be one of house music's events of the year.
