Dynamic debut for Eclipse duo
8:00am Friday 2nd November 2012 in Sportsview
Gusty fighters: Dan Hawkins, 15, and Bradley White 14 made strong debuts in their first full contact show.
TWO teenage powerhouses from Kidderminster-based Eclipse Martials Arts were in impressive form at a full contact show in Featherstone.
Dan Hawkins, 15, and Bradley White 14, are part of the club’s Elite Fight Squad and came through with flying colours on their debut.
Hawkins was the first of the pair to take to the ring, where he met a home town opponent.
Despite his opponent boasting a slight height advantage, Hawkins instantly overpowered his fighter with a bombardment of heavy hand blows to his opponent’s torso. Most of the round consisted of the Wyre Forest fighter keeping his rival pinned against the ropes to give him an easily won first round.
He continued to control the second round and despite tiring in the third went onto win the fight by a unaminous decision.
White now had a nervous wait for his fight already knowing that when weighed in, his opponent from Evesham had a slight weight advantage.
The first round began with a few light blows exchanged and then the Eclipse fighter unleashed a flurry of hand techniques, while also skilfully avoiding his rival’s counter attacks.
Drawing his fighter towards him, White performed a perfect side kick which floored his opponent.
Within a few seconds of the restart the fighter from Evesham was down on the canvas again but after a brief pause the referee allowed the fight to continue.
White dominated the second round and his opponent took some very heavy shots but just about stayed on his feet and surprisingly the referee was allowing this battle to continue.
Round three was much the same with Bradley throwing all the shots and his opponent just waiting to hear the bell as he recorded a hugely impressive victory.
Eclispe master Will Jennings was overjoyed at the way the two fighters showed maturity and courage at their such young age.
