Stourport book spot in National Division Two

STOURPORT Ladies booked their place in the National Division Two of the Maxifuel Super Six Championships.

They made it to the National stage for the first time after coming third in Northern Division Two.

The Ladies started the tournament at Perdiswell Leisure Centre with a 0-0 draw against Gloucester, who also went onto finish runners-up in the table and progress to the next stage.

A 5-3 win over Liverpool Sefton and a 3-3 draw against Army Ladies was followed with a 5-3 victory over Whitley Bay and Tynemouth which was enough to seal progress, despite losing to table-toppers Buckingham 3-0.

They now face Chelmsford, Buckingham, Gloucester, Ipswich and St Albans over the weekend of January 19 and 20 in Nottingham.

Meanwhile, a combined fourths and fifths team battled back from 2-0 down to defeat Old Sils seconds 4-3 thanks to goals for Katie Walker, Lorna Hawthorne (2) and Ellie Wilkinson.

n Kidderminster Ladies defeated Redditch 7-0, with Rachael Wills bagging a four-goal haul.

Despite starting with just 10 players, Kidderminster powered into a 3-0 lead as Wills, Becky Greenhalgh and Sue Howard hit the target.

In the second half, Williams grabbed three more and Greenhalgh completed the rout.
