STOURPORT Ladies bagged another important win in their bid to avoid relegation from the Women’s Conference West as they saw off high-flying Trojans 2-1.

Victory ensures they remain outside relegation zone ahead of Barnes Hounslow Ealing, who beat Swansea 1-0, on goal difference.

Their best win and performance of the season was sealed by two first-half goals.

Solid performances from defenders Julie Whiting, Sophie Baron, Heidi Devey, and player-of-the-match Erin Preece, allowed Stourport’s midfield to push forward and link up with the forwards.

Lora Symonds drove forward down the right to earn a long corner and Stourport’s opening goal.

The quickly-taken set-piece by Nicola Moss was passed to Lauren Shilvock and she fired home.

Sarah Cavendish then doubled the lead with a penalty flick.

Trojans came out fighting in the second-half and piled on the pressure, but the Stourport defence and keeper Sophie Woodkept them at bay.

n The seconds held onto number two place in the Midland Feeder West with a 3-2 victory over Stone. Fran Moss, Kirsty Imm, and player-of-the-match Amy Miller scored.

n Stourport’s thirds savoured a fine 3-0 win over Ludlow in the Worcestershire Division One thanks to strikes from Leanne Styzaker, Kate Bailey and Indi Wilding.

n In Division Two, the fourths drew 1-1 with Harborne fifths with Charlotte Lickman scoring.

n Hazel Claris bagged a second-half leveller for the fifths in Division Three in the 1-1 draw against Old Halesonians.
