Kidderminster Carolians 49, Worcester Wanderers II 3

KIDDERMINSTER Carolians put Worcester to the sword in a hastily arranged friendly fixture.

The Marlpool Lane outfit had been supposed to be playing Kings Norton in the quarter-finals of the North Midlands Shield but the Hopwood-based club conceded.

Head coach Ian Bletcher made a number of personnel and positional changes from the side which had beaten Droitwich the previous week.

The hosts got off to the perfect start when wing Nick Martin out paced the cover defence to score in the opening 28 seconds.

Worcester replied with a penalty before KCs scored their second try following a break which saw Dave Waldron touching down.

Wanderers competed well at the breakdown, and forced a number of errors and penalties, however, once possession had been won the extra pace and support play from KCs paid dividends.

Martin scored his second try, following a break from Mitchell Hardwick, and then Layton Wilkinson burst through a number of tackles to touch down.

Waldron then raced beat three defenders to score another try, which Andy McLellan converted.

Tries for Chris Pinner, Hardwick, Rob Phillips and Rhys Pritchard ensured a comfortable second half.
