WYRE Forest Phoenix have been were presented with the Herefordshire and Worcestershire County League Trophy after a fine season.

The team have an unassailable lead at the top after winning all 11 of their games.

They were presented with the silverware after a campaign where they have scored 55 goals and conceded nine.

Manager Paul Lacey hailed the squad’s effort, which underwent a change after the team broke away to form Phoenix in the summer and dropped out of West Midlands League.

He said: “It’s been a tremendous effort by everyone, we’re unbeaten in all competitions.

“The girls have worked hard to achieve this success.”

Wyre Forest now face three cup deciders in April starting with the Three Counties final on Sunday, April 14, the County Cup a week later and the League Cup on April 28.

Phoenix have also been approved as a chartered development club after receiving the confirmation letter this week.

The club’s under-12s edged out Warndon Village Wildcats 3-2 with goals for Ellie Jones and Sydney Harris (2).

Chloe Whyley and Connor Reeves hit the back of the net for the Phoenix under-13s outfit as they lost 4-2 to Hallas Hawks North.

The under-16s drew 1-1 with Pershore with Kathryn Baylis on target.

The under-17s defeated Wordsley Wasps 6-2 as Chloe Handy (3), Natalie Westcott and Shannon Davis (2) hit the back of the net.
