THERE was promotion joy for Cleobury Mortimer but disappointment for Chaddesley Corbett in the Worcestershire County League Division Four.
Corbett were pipped to second place by Cleobury Mortimer on a dramatic final day of the season.
Chaddesley could not take a final wicket as local rivals Bromsgrove thirds held them to a winning draw.
Despite picking up a 15 point haul, Mortimer leapt above and secure their spot in Division Three with a thumping 196 run win over West Malvern.
Corbett had looked on course for victory despite losing the toss and being put into bat.
They made 159 all out in 50 overs, with Muhamad Sadiq scoring a crucual 51 runs.
But despite tearing through the visitors’ batting order, Bromsgrove hung onto reach 80-9. That was despite four wickets for Tanzeel Ul Rahman (4-24) and Sadiq (3-23).
The hosts were thwarted by a tenth wicket stand of 11 by Paul Hutchins (who hit 10 runs off 56 balls) and Tom Smith (4).
Meanwhile, Mortimer needed to see off relegation battling Malvern, which they did in style.
Ben Griffiths hit 82 runs as Cleobury declared on 250-9 in 46 overs. It took the Shropshire side just 23 overs to removed Malvern for 54 runs, with Thomas Griffiths taking six wickets.Chaddesley finished an encouraging season with ten wins and just four defeats.
In Division Six, second-placed Cutnall Green ended the season with a seven-wicket win over Ombersley.
