Wood axed as Bevan leads way

STOURPORT gave themselves a faint hope of survival in the Worcestershire League Division Two with a comfortable victory over Coombs Wood.
Batting first, Coombs Wood were bowled out for 150 with Bevan Neill (4-53) and Gavin Bryan (3-52) the pick of the Stourport attack.
In reply, 41 from Craig Siwicki helped Stourport towards the Coombs Wood total before 30 not out from Andy Siwicki and 30 not out from Neil Bailey saw Stourport to 151-3 and victory in the 34th over for loss of just three wickets.
The second from bottom side trail local rivals Cookley by 21 points with two matches left.
They will be aiming to continue their fight back at home to Rushwick on Saturday (12.30pm start).
Stourport’s seconds relinquished second spot as they could only manage a losing draw against their rivals for the runners up place Worcester.
Tom Neath continued his recent fine form to take 6 for 75 to restrict Worcester to 224 for 9.
In reply, 48 from Ethan Lockwood could not see Stourport to victory, eventually hanging on for a losing draw finishing on 194 for 9.
The thirds finished off their first season in Division Five with a fine 24 point victory over Old Elizabethans thirds.
Sixty-two from Ed Franklyn saw Stourport to an impressive 243 for 9 from their 50 overs.
Tyrone Thomas proved the pick of the bowling with 4-50 to bowl Old Elizabethans out for 215.
Stourport’s fourths clinched the runners-up spot as the beat Old Elizebethans by two wickets.
Adam Sellick gave a man of the match performance with 3-39 and then 42 not out with the bat, while 52 from Neil Waldron saw Stourport to victory in the 42nd over.
