KIDDERMINSTER Carolians are set to he boosted by the return of key pair Rob Delahay and Chris Pinner for Saturday’s trip to Nuneaton Old Edwardians in the Midlands Division Two West (South).
Skipper Delahay has recovered from the injury which forced him to miss Saturday’s 30-29 victory over Leamington, while scrum-half Pinner is also available again.
But KCs will be without Jake Evitts, who misses out because of work commitments, while Mike Protheroe has returned to university.
KCs go into Saturday’s clash in Warwickshire (3pm ko) in the knowledge they have good strength in depth.
Director of rugby Phil Knowles said: “A few years ago we wouldn’t have been able a field a team that could compete against a good side like Leamington because of all the injuries and absences.”
“But apart from the final few minutes I thought we worked very hard and our tackling was very strong.
“We don’t really have a first or second team, we have a squad of players and it has made a difference.”
KCs are also hopeful that fly-half Andy McLellan is ahead of schedule as he recovers from a serious leg injury.
Knowles added: “We thought Andy would be back playing by Christmas but it might be earlier than that as so far his recovery has gone well.”
The seconds also got off to a winning start as they edged out local rivals Chaddesley Corbett by two points on Saturday.
