Wyre well placed for swimming finals

WYRE Forest Swimming Club lie ninth overall after the first round of the 2013 National Arena Swimming League .
The league involves 392 teams throughout the country competing in 64 galas in three rounds in October, November and December, with the finals in April. In total some 13,000-plus swimmers take part in each round.
The Division Two draw saw Wyre Forest travel to Rugby to compete with a further five clubs.
Over the fifty races there were five individual wins for Wyre Forest Swimmers with Isobel Bowers in the backstroke, Calum Tinsdale also in the backstroke, Johnathan McMahon in the butterfly, Harvey Thompson in the freestyle and Helena Shackleton also freestyle.
There were four wins in the relay events as well with a clean sweep from the boys under 15s team of Calum Tinsdale, Matt Newey, Johnathan McMahon and Harvey Thompson winning both the medley and freestyle relays.
A win for the girls under 13s freestyle team of Emma Osborne, Emily Jay, Abby Rowley and Helena Shackleton and a win for the girls 9-11-year-old medley team of Emily Seymour-Perry, Olivia Jay, Nicole Tanser-Voets and Eden Fallon-Davies.
Those wins together with a solid performance from the club saw Wyre Forest take a comfortable third place overall on the night behind Mansfield and Shrewsbury.
This leaves Wyre Forest ninth in a league of 24 after the first round, well placed going into the second round in November.
