THE men’s artistic squad from Wyre Forest School of Gymnastics produced a series of impressive displays at the West Midlands novice tournament in Birmingham.

The tournament saw gymnasts compete in and out of age groups on all six pieces and had over 60 competitors across the age groups in action.

Due to the competition growing in size and the men’s artistic division growing in popularity because of the success of the London Olympics, the Wyre Forest boys were put in the harder section.

Representing the under-12s, Jacob Ritson took first place with a strong pommel routine and floor display.

In the under-10s, group the club was represented by Jacob Weber who delivered a solid performance on all pieces with the highest vault score in his age group.

Gregory Gowland also displayed his flexibility and power across his routines, taking second place in his age age section and just missing out on gold by the smallest fraction.

For the majority of the under-8s it was their first competition and the boys performed beautifully under pressure and were true sportsmen to the end.

Louis Barnes, Jaziah Brown, Samuel Spencer, Samuel Clarke, Benjamin Gowland, George Lewis and Harry Lees did well.
