BEWDLEY Town are setting their sites on a top half of the table finish in the West Midlands Premier.

The Ribbesford Meadows side are one of the division’s in-form teams with four wins in the last five matches.

On Saturday, they defeated Shifnal Town 3-1 with goals for Richard Costello, Chris Hough and Jon Seekings.

Bewdley built on that result on Tuesday night when they saw off Willnehall Town 4-1 away.

Hough continued his good form with a brace while Dan Gittens and Costello also hitting the back of the net.

Joint managers Craig Payton and Bryan Lacey are set to stand down at the end of the season.

Joint manager Craig Payton said: “We’ve come out all guns blazing since the rain break.

Bryan Lacey and I had a chat with the lads around Christmas about our situation.

“They know we’re not going until the end of the season and have responded really well.

“Ideally we want to finish in the top 12 and if we can do that, hopefully we can secure a place in the FA Cup next season.”

Town take on Wolverhampton Sporting Community at home on Saturday (3pm ko) and then go to big spending Sporting Khalsa next Tuesday (7.45pm ko).

Meanwhile, the merger between the Midland Alliance and the Midland Combination is not expected to affect promotion and relegation issues in the West Mids Premier.

Champions of the West Midlands Premier and Eastern Counties are guaranteed places in new league.
