GOLF: Four teams from the county descended on Wharton Park to take part in the Winter League Championship finale.

The host club’s players were in great form having already clinched the league title and they also added the championship and individual trophies to complete a most impressive clean sweep.

They finished the day with a 10-point winning margin from Little Lakes — 370 to 360, with Burlish Park on 332 and Bransford, who had won the Championship Trophy for the past couple of years, on 325.

Wharton’s Nigel Morris produced the day’s top individual score with an excellent return of 41 points considering the tricky and testing wet conditions on the course and a blustery wind. His nearest challenger was Burlish’s Mick Hodges (37).
