CYCLING: Hardy members of Wyre Forest CRC have made an early start to their summer season with some excellent time trials.

In the Stourbridge Velo-promoted 22-mile event, Andy Convery was the leading rider in sixth with a time of 53 minutes and 51 seconds.

He was closely followed by Dave Meacham in 10th place with 54-50, while Paul Gibson (16th with 58m 53s) and Ian Connolly (19th with 59m 57s) completed the team results.

Justin Walters partnered Jeremy Pile, of VC Sevale, to finish second from 40 teams in the Port Talbot Wheelers 25-mile two-up time trial with a time of 56m 26s, while Andy Overton teamed up with Andy Hunt, of Ystwyth CC, to finish fourth in 59m 11s. Dave Meacham came 11th in 57m 52s from an entry of 65 riders in the Royal Dean Forest CC-promoted 25-mile time trial.

Paul Gibson was 33rd in 1hr 2m 19s and Paul Crook 47th in 1hr 6m 27s to help Wyre Forest finish fourth.
