CAPTAIN Jonathan Wright has issued a rallying cry for struggling Kidderminster Victoria as they continue to toil in the bottom levels of the table.

At the halfway point of the Birmingham and District League Premier, KVCC find themselves second from bottom with just one win from 11 games.

The Chester Road outfit though face a vital game at home to fellow strugglers Walmley (noon start) on Saturday.

They will have to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat to title-chasing West Bromwich Dartmouth.

Wright said: “We need to start enjoying our cricket again.

“It’s all about the team pulling together and starting to get some confidence.

“There’s still time for the team to get back on track but we’ve got to start doing it now.”

On Saturday, KVCC were no match for West Bromwich Dartmouth.

They had won the toss and opted to bat first but were kept to 129-8, while Basit Zaman’s 101 not out comfortably guided the Black Country side to 132-2.

Wright added: “We were skittish and nervous and never really recovered and then Basit Zaman played very well for his century.

“We had talked before the game about players taking responsibility and they took it on board because no one threw away their wickets.

“We’ve had a season where we’ve made errors and they’ve been punished and the way to get back on track is trying to enjoy our cricket again.”

Kidderminster will be boosted by the return of Zac Turley and Craig Wood for Saturday’s clash.

Neil Pinner is expected to be available for the following week after recovering from a broken arm.

Wright said: “We can’t worry about the what the other teams are doing, we’ve got to focus on ourselves.

“Having Craig and Zac back is a boost and when Neil returns we’ll have another very experienced player back to lift us.”
