KIDDERMINSTER Victoria earned a valuable 17 points against Knowle and Dorridge to ease their relegation worries in the Birmingham and District League Premier on Saturday.

A formidable 119 partnership between the returning Neil Pinner and Craig Wood proved to be the difference.

In fact, all of KVCC’s key batsmen found some form as opener Matt Pardoe, fresh from his 137 for Worcestershire’s seconds, made 69 runs.

Pinner returned from his broken arm in fine form and hit 76, before he was caught by David Smith off Jack Grundy’s bowling.

Wood also fell victim to Grundy after making 63 runs.

KVCC’s lower order batsmen launched a savage attack on the bowling in the last few overs.

Zac Turley made 16, Jonathan Wright 11 and Ryan Derrick scored 18 as the Chester Road side eased to 332-7 in 55 overs.

Kidderminster then had an early success when opener Richard Johnson was out for a duck, caught by Richard Kimberlin, bowled Connor Smith.

The score had reached 66 by the 12th over when the second wicket fell.

Brilliant fielding by Derrick ran Alex Phillips (22) out.

Michael Hill, who has played in the Australian “Big Bash”

series, probably prevented Kidderminster from getting the win they deserved. Only Reddish (34), gave Hill any great support as he made an unbeaten 104.

Pinner finished with 3-49, Pardoe 1-41, Smith 1-26 and Hill 1-29. A spell of 13 overs by Gareth Williams only cost 58 runs.

Next Saturday, KVCC travel to Barnt Green (noon start).
