KIDDERMINSTER Carolians will wrap up their pre-season preparations for a new campaign with a final friendly at home to North Wales side Nant Conwy on Saturday (3pm).

The Marlpool Lane outfit have high hopes for the 2014-15 campaign, which they start on Saturday, September 6, in the North Midlands Cup at home to Shrewsbury (3pm).

KCs have switched from the Midlands Division Two West (South) to the north division and will face the likes of Tamworth, Bridgnorth and Wolverhampton.

The club have bolstered their coaching set-up, with former players Mark Oliver and Matt Greene looking after the seconds, while head coach Ian Bletcher will pass on his considerable knowledge and experience to Stuart Such and Andy McLellan.

Director of Rugby Phil Knowles said: “With Mark and Matt on board and Ian working with Stuart and Andy we’re hoping that the we will be looking strong from the firsts all the way down to the thirds.

“Pre-season has been very good and there has been a lot of work on individual ball skills.

“We’re looking forward to the Nant Conwy game, we played them away on tour and they are a very good side but we will give them a good game.”

KCs saw a warm-up game against Woodrush cancelled after the opposition pulled out but they enjoyed an encouraging workout against Pershore, scoring six tries.

“Preparations have gone well so far and we’re looking forward to the season,” added Knowles.
