KARL Fellows struck a last-gasp winner as Stourport Swifts booked their place in the next stage of the FA Cup with a 3-2 win over Wellington on Saturday.

Victory means the club will tackle Northern Premier Division One South side Leek Town in the First Qualifying Round on Saturday, September 13, and earned £1,925 in prize money.

Swifts made the breakthrough in the 59th minute when Jamie Hyde picked out Gary Walker and the skipper powered his shot into the net with the help of a deflection.

Wellington, from the West Midlands League, levelled on 83 minutes through a Ben Thomas header but the visitors were back in front within a minute, Griffin finding the net following a Luke Morris cross.

There was more drama to come when the home side hauled themselves level on 90 minutes, Aaron Morgan scoring following a goalmouth scramble.

But the final word went to the visitors who snatched their late winner when a long ball forward from Ashley Parsons-Smith was controlled by Griffin and Fellows fired home.

Manager Rod Brown said: “I thought we showed great mental strength to win the game.”

Swifts take on Bromsgrove Sporting in the FA Vase on Saturday, a game that kicks-off at 4.30pm because of Stourport Carnival.

“I am looking forward to the Sporting clash, I’ve managed a few of their players and Paul Smith will have them up for it,” added Brown.

“With the late kick-off it would be great if fans from the Kidderminster match came down to watch the second half.”
