TWO young members of the Wyre Forest Company of Archers continued their successful season with two wins and a second in the DWAA Championships held in Devizes.

Lauren Turner, 11, a former pupil of Burlish Park Primary but now starting a new term at Stourport High School, won the U12s junior ladies recurve event with a score of 1135 points.

Shooting a Bristol five, which consisted of six dozen arrows at 20 yards, four dozen arrows at 15 yards and two dozen arrows at 10 yards, she scored 143 hits which included 79 golds.

Club-mate Freya Palmer, a pupil at Ridgewood High School in Stourbridge, placed second in the same event with a total of 1121 points which included 141 hits and 80 golds.

The previous day, Palmer had won the U12s junior recurve two-way double clout competition, which required the archers to shoot at a target on the ground at a distance of 80 yards.

Her winning total of 56 points included 25 hits and three clouts.
