Charlotte Bardsley has been selected in the Development group of Table Tennis England’s 28-strong England Youth Squad.

The 12-year-old who attends Heathfield School in Wolverley, is in the 15-player development section of the squad, which was announced after skill and fitness assessments of all the players who applied to join the squad at an assessment day at the National Sports Centre in Lilleshall.

In addition, 13 players were named in the performance section of the squad.

The squad members will attend regular training camps and will work more closely with England coaches at their clubs.

Coach Matt Stanforth said: “The standard of the players on the Assessment Day was very high and it was clear that everyone had been working hard both on and off the table to give themselves the best chance to be selected.

“These players have signed an athlete agreement in which they agree to commit to the programme we have put together which includes 10 training camps across the season as well as regular contact time between each camp.

“This allows us to work more closely with the players’ local coaches.”
