BEWDLEY Town ended a three game losing run in the West Midlands Premier with a hard fought draw against Wellington on Tuesday night.

Richard Costello bagged a second half leveller as the Ribbesford Meadows stopped the rot.

Manager Phil Mullen said: “It was a good point on Tuesday night and the draw was about right.

“We had some chances and it was good to see us end out bad run.

“What was pleasing was the fact we had a full substitutes bench for the first time in a few weeks. We’ve had people back from injury and suspensions.”

They had lost 2-1 to struggling Wellington Amateurs on Saturday.

In the weekend game, Town were leading through Dan Fellows’ first half penalty.

But he missed a golden chance to double their lead when he had a second half penalty saved and Amateurs hit back with a leveller and a winner in the 89th minute.

Mullen added: “Against Amateurs losing was a kick in a teeth. We had been leading and saw a penalty saved, if that had gone in we would have win.

“But they stunned us with a late goal. We could have scored ten goals if we had taken our chances.”

Tyler Richards will complete his three match ban on Saturday, when Town tackle Black Country Rangers (kick-off 3pm).

Rangers are currently flying high in third place in the league.

They then visit Willenhall on Tuesday (kick-off 7.45pm).
