DIRECTOR of rugby Phil Knowles believes Kidderminster Carolians players must give their all when they welcome unbeaten leaders Bridgnorth to Marlpool Lane on Saturday.

KCs face a daunting challenge against their derby rivals, who top Midlands Division Two West (North) after winning all 12 matches this season.

Kidderminster are also smarting from a 37-0 loss at Bridgnorth earlier in the campaign, where Knowles felt they put in a fine display despite the comprehensive margin of defeat.

He said: “We face a massive task, Bridgnorth are by far the best side in the division.

“The players must step up to face the challenge and I am sure they will.

“When we played them the first time around they were at full strength so we’ll see what they are like now.

“I actually thought we did well but Bridgnorth played so well that day. But the most important thing for us is to put in a really good display, which will give us a confidence boost for the rest of the season.”

KCs are without Jordan Hatch, who suffered a broken nose in the Boxing Day’s inter-club match.

George Morgan is still out injured but Kidderminster welcome back brothers Chris and Alex Baldwin.

Chris Pinner is set to be moved to fly-half, with player/coach Andy McLellan playing at full-back and Alex Thomson at scrum-half.

Knowles added: “We’re not looking too bad injury-wise but we’re going to change a few players around.”

KCs are eighth in the table after a tricky second quarter of the season.

But they ended a frustrating run of five defeats and one draw in the league with a 25-19 win over Veseyans in Birmingham before Christmas.

Carolians were hit hard by a host of injuries at the end of 2014 but hopes are high of an improving second half of the season.
