KIDDERMINSTER aces swimming for Ellesmere College Titans enjoyed a weekend to remember in the National Arena League.
Eleanor Bainbridge and Alex Rosser-Barnett, both of whom attend Holy Trinity School, were in excellent form in Manchester’s 50-metre pool as Ellesmere College Titans dominated the latest round of the North West Premier Division.
Titans were up against seven other clubs, including the mighty Stockport Metro, City of Salford, City of Liverpool, Preston and Southport swimming clubs, all drawing on a great hinterland of top swimmers from the North West.
Bainbridge was part of a quartet which raced to victory in the girls’ 4x50m freestyle relay in a time of two minutes and 3.93 seconds.
She was also in individual action in the ten/11-year-old freestyle and took the runners-up spot in 30.8s.
Meanwhile, Rosser-Barnett had success in relays and individual events.
In the nine/11-year-old boys’ 4x50m freestyle relay he was part of a Titans foursome, which came second.
Rosser-Barnett (42.76) then took third in the ten/11 50m breaststroke event.
Together with another record number of personal bests and some of the quickest times throughout the whole country, Ellesmere College Titans finished in their highest ever position in the league, gaining second place with 28 points behind the overall winners, Stockport Metro, on 295 points.
Titans have now qualified for the Cup Final A at Cardiff’s International 50m pool on April 26.
