BEWDLEY Town’s proposed West Midlands League match with Pegasus Juniors fell victim to the weather this week.
A waterlogged Ribbesford Meadow pitch put paid to any prospect of play, but boss Phil Mullen revealed: “The rain fell on the wrong day.
“If it had happened on Friday, we would have played!
“The pitch isn’t good at the moment because the rain runs down from a bank behind the stand and causes part of the pitch to become flooded. The riverside isn’t a problem.”
Bewdley hope for better luck this Saturday when they travel to a Wolves Sporting Community, who clawed themselves off bottom spot last Saturday with a surprise 4-1 win at Dudley Sports.
Then on Tuesday, Bewdley are due to host high-flying Ellesmere Rangers.
Bewdley remain in 15th spot but are well clear of the drop zone.
Mullen added: “At least we’re not falling behind with our fixtures at the moment having already played 25 league games. We tend to look upon this time of year as our-mid season continental break.
“At least I have a full squad to select from and the players have managed to keep fit.”
