CHADDESLEY Corbett is one of the most popular courses in the county and Sunday’s Albrighton Woodland meeting reflects that assertion with an entry of both quantity and quality.

Most of the large West Midland stables will by vying for success, including Tom Weston’s Hindlip yard who have started the season in such fine form.

Droitwich-based Angela Rucker rarely leaves this course without a winner, but the participation of Minella Friend could be dependent on Weston’s availability and/or Cold Knights absence.

Rainbow Trout won twice last year, which was a feather in the cap of Worcester trainer Zara Hunt, but it is a big ask for the mare to win even with Mark Wall’s presence in the saddle.

Jane Williams has taken over the training duties at the family’s Enville stables. The first winner is proving illusive and she will be looking for What A Bluff to put up a good show against Kazuri Kate, Missing the Babe, Overafrica and Tony.

Sheila Crow’s Fruit Fayre is likely to start a short priced favourite for the Bonhams-sponsored Men’s Open, but the chances of the Rucker’s representative Domtaline or Tripitico have to be respected.

Local company Callow Oils sponsor the Chaddesley Championship so it would be great to see Jim Callow’s colours carried to success by Knockgraffon King, who showed good form by winning a Chase for Donald McCain at Newcastle in January 2014. Clive Bennett’s Stone also stands a sporting chance in this contest.

The first race starts at noon on Sunday.
