WYRE Forest Phoenix battled out a 2-2 draw against Worcester United in the West Midlands Regional League.

Forest suffered a setback early on when Mel Zaffino, who had travelled down from Scotland to attend the game, suffered a broken nose early on.

With no substitute’s available, Phoenix were forced to play with 10 while she received treatment, and were unlucky to go a goal down during this time.

Zaffino returned to the fray and Forest improved, with Chelsea Mudge going close.

Kirsty Jones made it 1-1.

Zaffino had come off again for 25 minutes, as her efforts and injury took their toll, and although Worcester scored, she returned to the fray to bag an equaliser.

In theMidwest Counties Female Football League, Wyre Forest were edged out 2-1 by Cookley Sports Ladies.

Phoenix fell behind to a first half goal, despite Vicky Hyde hitting the bar and firing another effort off target.

In the second half, Phoenix made it 1-1 when Kirsten Oliver scored after good work by Mellisa Knott.

But Cookley hit back in the 85th minute with a winner at the far post after Phoenix had missed their winger.
