THRIVING Kidderminster Tennis Club are set to press on with ambitious expansion proposals after receiving official approval for the way it is being run.

Kidderminster Tennis Club has been awarded Tennismark Accreditation by the LTA, which is a way of recognising good standards and best practice at tennis venues in Britain and is the equivalent of the Clubmark best practice accreditation implemented by Sport England.

Coach Tony Wright said: “This is great for the club, the members and for the people of Kidderminster and Wyre Forest.

“It is recognition of the quality of the facilities, the coaching programme, the safeguarding structure and the hard work of the volunteers who run and manage the club.”

Gaining Tennismark accreditation is only the latest step in a programme of improvements which began in 2012 with the award of nearly £50,000 in grant money from Sport England, which enabled the club to build a new clubhouse and install floodlights.

Club president Peter Young added: “Achieving Tennismark will unlock access to additional funding sources and enable us to proceed with our plans to extend the facilities at Kidderminster Tennis Club with the development of a third court. This will mean that we can increase our membership and increase the amount of tennis on offer to the people of Wyre Forest.”
