THE next generation of Samurai players continue to make their mark as Lewis Mills took bronze at the Samurai Open Championships for senior players below black belt.
Lewis won three contests out of three to reach the semi-final of his category before losing the semi-final against the run of play and having to settle for bronze.
Becky Hobby, 15, also took bronze in her category.
After reaching her semi-final, she was beating the eventual gold-medallist before her fitness let her down and she ran out of steam.
But she came back well to win the bronze.
Sam Bravo, 16, had several good wins on his way to fifth place, including his first points towards his black belt.
Mark Allen, who started after his sons started judo, had one particularly excellent win on his way to another fifth place, and Trevor Connolly also had a good go.
