KIDDERMINSTER Carolians need one final push to seal third place in the Midlands Division Two West (South), believes director of rugby Phil Knowles.

KCs require just a win in their final league clash at home to already relegated Tamworth on Saturday, April 11.

Carolians can still be caught by fourth-placed Wolverhampton, who have a difficult final match at champions Bridgnorth.

Knowles said: “It’s just one more game but we must not take Tamworth for granted even though they are bottom.

“We have had a very good season but there’s still a game to go and we must not falter.”

Kidderminster closed in on third place despite losing to Stourbridge Lions on Saturday but a thoroughly deserved bonus point kept them in the hunt.

KCs were missing Josh Winfield and George Morgan and the pacey duo’s absence was felt by the much changed Wyre Forest side.

Knowles added: “We were missing a couple of players and if we had them playing it might have been a different story.

“We had lots of the ball but were not at our best at the back and missed a few tackles, which Stourbridge took advantage of.

“But we worked hard and showed good spirit to make sure we got at least a bonus point from the game.”

It has been an encouraging campaign for the Marlpool Lane-based outfit, who have also seen Stu Such and Andy McLellan taken over as coaches.

Meanwhile, KCs’ under-17s maintained their excellent form as they booked their place in the semi-finals of the National Plate competition.

A 15-14 win against Syston on Sunday clinched the Midlands Division Final.

They now move on to play the North Division winners, Old Brodleians, in the semi-final, which will be played at Preston Grasshoppers on Sunday, April 19. Before that they have a North Midlands Cup semi-final away to Ledbury on Sunday, April 12.
