BEWDLEY TAGB member Chris Rayment-Bishop was all smiles when his perseverance paid off and he finally took home his first medal in the black belt division at the Taekwondo English Championship.

The tournament was hosted by the Taekwondo Association of Great Britain – the largest single martial arts association in Europe.

This annual event brings in thousands of people from across the UK and often abroad.

Having been the reigning champion through the coloured belt division, Rayment-Bishop then struggled to make his mark when he became the new guy on the block in the elite black belt division.

After a few narrowly missed attempts, the Bewdley fighter persevered and raised his game to finally medal with silver.

He now has his sights firmly set on gold for future competitions.

It was a very good day for dads and their daughters as Shayne and Paris Orme both earned medals in their divisions, gold and silver respectively.

Also, father Alex Sobainsky won bronze while his daughter Anushka bagged two silver medals.

In her first tournament entry, Charlotte Smith won a bronze medal while being cheered on by her new husband Tom, a black belt who inspired her to join and train with him.

The club trains in Bewdley, Kidderminster and Hagley and welcomes new beginners.
