SENIOR and junior members from Bewdley CC combined on Easter Saturday to spruce up Lower Park ahead of the new season. The members were taking part in the Nat West Cricket Force, which is promoted by the ECB.

With national sponsorship from Jewsons, volunteers created a state of the art fire pit for those chillier evenings and renovate the all important patio furniture.

The score box has been renovated to its former glory and a new moveable batting cage has been constructed. The interior of the club house has been deep cleaned and is ready for the new season.

Bewdley’s first friendly is on Saturday against district rivals Stourport followed by the Chairman’s XI versus President’s XI Simon Higgs Memorial Trophy on Saturday, April 18.

The newly-promoted first team begin in earnest in Worcestershire League Division One on Saturday, April 25 at home to Pedmore.

The junior section hope to build on a good winter indoor training programme at King Charles I School, with outdoor sessions from Friday, April 7 (6pm to 7.30pm) The club’s qualified coaches welcome new players from ages seven upwards; just turn up for a free taster session.

The dedicated coaches are preparing for a new era in Bewdley Juniors history with the Under 10s in Worcester Division One and Under 11s in the Premier League. There are also fixtures for age groups up to Under 15s.
