ARCHERY: Several members of Wyre Forest Company of Archers competed for the victorious Worcestershire team.
This was in a triangular tournament where they faced Cheshire and Staffordshire at Knutsford. With the gents shooting 12 dozen arrows at distances of 100, 80 and 60 yards and the ladies shooting a similar number of arrows at distances of 80, 60 and 50 yards, high scores proved difficult to obtain in the strong and variable wind strength.
WFCA results - Gents recurve: Dave Brazier 140 hits, 29 golds, 870 points. Gents compound: Scott Potter 144 hits, 76 golds, 1130 points; Bill Bell 144 hits, 72 golds 1126 points. Ladies compound: Lindsey Brazier 142 hits, 66 golds, 1072 points. Ladies longbow: Penny Neaverson 55 hits, 4 golds, 211 points Team scores: Worcestershire 15500, Cheshire 15106, Staffordshire 11953.
