CAPTAIN Matt Pardoe will be making sure nobody at high-flying Kidderminster Victoria gets carried away after the Chester Road side continued their winning start to the season with an emphatic 10 ten-wicket win triumph over Worcestershire rivals Barnt Green.

It means Kidderminster have won all four games so far this term, which leaves them sharing top spot in the Birmingham League with Walmley.

Once again, Kidderminster’s strike bowlers laid the foundations for victory — Connor Smith claiming two for 2-34, while Gareth Williams grabbed figures of three for 3-22.

Pardoe claimed: “They are my preferred opening bowlers and did fantastically well. They work well together and both are proving hard to get away.

“I brought myself and Nathan Round onto bowl quite early, but it was Jonathan Wright who really did the business later on with his off-spin.

“He came on when Barnt Green were trying to open up and bowled with such great control, that I kept him on.”

Wright finished with figures of three for 3-18 — but there was a further bonus in store for Kidderminster when they replied.

Andrew Kimberlin took Barnt Green’s bowling attack apart by scoring a boundary-laden 102 not out — his innings comprising of 20 fours.

Pardoe added: “ I accept that Barnt Green weren’t at full strength, but Andrew batted superbly. He wasn’t just throwing the bat, he was playing good cricket shots.

“I know we’ve made a dream start to the season, but I’m telling everyone to keep their feet on the ground.

“The important thing is that everyone does their job properly and if we play good cricket, we’ll get good results.

“I know some teams have targets and objectives but we haven’t talked about anything like that.

"All we need to do is just keep focussing on the next game.”

Kidderminster entertain Knowle and Dorridge this Saturday at Chester Road and Pardoe plans to stick with the same side that beat Barnt Green.

KVCC face K&D again on Sunday, May 31, in the next round of the Royal London National Knockout Cup.
