KIDDERMINSTER Victoria's poor run of form in Birmingham League Premier continues after a crushing 112 loss to Shrewsbury.

Having commenced the season with six wins, Kidderminster have failed to win any of their last five apart from having one match abandoned because of rain.

Their main failing is in not scoring enough runs and not backing up some good bowling.

KVCC’s Gareth Williams produced excellent figures, 15-6-3-36, and then together with wicket keeper Tom Kimberlin batted for ten overs in pursuit of a draw.

They came up short, but had far better batsmen done a better job, then the result may have been less painful. The highest score of the Shrewsbury innings was the 124 scored by opener Steve Leach, with Steve Barnard batting at number six, adding 48.

Winning the toss, Shrewsbury chose to bat, but some good bowling saw them under pressure, losing 4-63 by the 21st over. Nathan Round struck first when Michael Hill caught Ed Foster (20).

Then Williams took control, dismissing thee batsmen, Will Parton (0), Tom Cox (2) and Rob Foster (5) were soon back in the pavilion.

But Shrewsbury did not fall apart, adding 94 runs before the fifth wicket fell.

Steve Barnard (48) with five fours and two sixess was out caught and bowled by KVCC skipper Matt Pardoe. By this time Steve Leach had scored 80.

Another stand, this time 45, ended when Alex Blofield (26) was caught by Pardoe, bowled Jonathan Wright.

The score had reached 202-6, and then with the total at 236, the most valuable wicket fell.

Leach had scored 124, off 155 balls in 183 minutes, striking ten fours and three sixes. A magnificent innings ending when he was caught Hill bowled Round.

Williams had taken 3-36, Round 2-39, with Pardoe and Wright taking one each.

The Kidderminster batting went from crisis to crisis, with openers Pardoe and Andy Kimberlin both out caught for ducks. It then became 3-22 when Round (9) was bowled and 4-34 when Connor Smith (4) was caught.

Steve Barnard had taken three of the wickets, with Mike Barnard taking the other. Steve claimed the next wicket when he bowled Hill, as Kiddy slumped to 51-5 in 14 overs. It was not to improve with wickets falling at 66, two at 95, 103 and eventually 133.The runs came from Andy Siwicki (4), Ryan Derrick (20), Wright (21), and Charlie Stainforth (5).

The Shrewsbury bowlers reaped their reward with Steve Barnard taking 4-46, Will Parton 2-7, Charlie Morris 2-22, and Mike Barnard and Sam Griffiths taking one each. KVCC are now in fifth place and face Brockhampton at Chester Road on Saturday at 12 noon, then on Sunday they entertain Kimberley Institute from the Nottingham league in the ECB National Club Championship.
