BEWDLEY’S mid-season wobble in Worcestershire Division One continued with a comprehensive defeat at the hands of a Worcester Nomads side bolstered by a high-profile signing.

Bewdley’s bowlers stuck manfully to their task.

Joe Lucas (2-37), Andy Platt (1-38) and Callum Wilson bowled intelligently, but the rest of the attack was wayward in the extreme.

Nomads’ total was built on a partnership of 201 between Josh Haynes (100) and Tom Mills (118). Bewdley’s reply was spirited but they never really threatened victory, handicapped as they were by skipper Matt Cowdery’s absence with a damaged finger.

Mike Harris again stood out with an assured 65 not out, and four other batsmen reached 20.

Bewdley will be hoping to begin the second half of the season with a better performance at Pedmore on Saturday. They remain fifth in the table.

The seconds suffered a nine-wicket defeat at the hands of Worcester Nomads.

The home side won the toss and opted to bat, but were dismissed for 97 in 31 overs.

Connor Franklin struck 46 runs, while Matt Thwaites made 19.

Jacob Barnsley had Tim Dobinson-Law caught by Luke Groves but Worcester cruised to 98-1 in 18 overs.
