REECE Styche says the positive vibes at Kidderminster Harriers will bring the best out of him.

The 24-year-old announced his return to the Kiddy fold with a bang thanks to a brace as the senior side defeated a youthful West Bromwich team 2-0 in a behind the scenes friendly.

It was a timely sign of the forward’s ability, Styche had previously bagged 34 goals in 107 outings for Forest Green Rovers, and he'll be hoping to build on that display.

The forward joined with a fanfare last summer, but his time at Harriers was disrupted as the club was destabilised by money worries, with the forward having two loan spells at Tamworth.

But he is enjoying the breath of fresh air provided by manager Gary Whild and new chairman Rod Brown.

“It was always my choice to go on loan to Tamworth and I enjoyed my time there,” said Styche.

“I have already said that I didn’t play well at Kidderminster last season, but it was down to an accumulation of things.

"Fans didn’t see all the things which happened behind the scenes, can they imagine going into work not knowing if they were being paid on time?

“The pitch was not great and I think that it took me a while adjust to the style of play after the total football at Forest Green Rovers.

“But I have to say it is a complete contrast around the club now, I feel more relaxed and happier at the club.”

Supporters will be hoping to get a better glimpse of the first team squad, including Styche, when they play their first home friendly against Birmingham City on Saturday (12.30pm ko).

The clash, which is an all-ticket affair, is set for a bumper crowd with just over 2,000 tickets sold so far.

Styche added: “It’s a fresh start for me and the whole club.

“The chairman is a breath of fresh air, he’s up front and honest and he also attends training, and there’s not many chairman who would do that.

“There’s also a great feeling around the squad, even though there’s some new faces it already feels tight knight, which is going to be important.

“We also played some great football against West Brom.”

On-loan West Brom keeper Alex Palmer has sustained a thigh strain and is a fortnight away from playing, with Dean Snedker set to deputise.

Calvin Dinsley has recovered from injury, while academy product Dan Sweeney has signed his first professional contract.

Meanwhile, the club are set to starting serving food in the newly-rebranded Final Whistle bar.
