ATHLETICS: Kidderminster and Stourport AC member Katie Lambert was in excellent form representing England Midlands U20s at the Welsh U20s international match in Cardiff.

Lambert, who normally competes in the under-17s age category was selected to compete for the England Midlands U20 team against teams from England North, England South and Wales.

She set a new personal best of over 50 metres using the heavier four kilogram adults-weight hammer. The teenager also won the gold medal beating the top two ranked U20s girl hammer-throwers in the UK.

Her next challenge is defending the national title she won at last year’s national championships in Bedford.

Meanwhile, clubmate Lynette McKeown is on her way to compete in the World Masters Athletics Championships in Lyon, France.

She will be competing in the shot put, hammer and weight throw.

McKeown is currently ranked in the top five in her age group for the weight throw and recently collected two bronze and a silver medals at the British Masters in Birmingham.
