COOKLEY were edged out by three runs in a thrilling Worcestershire Division Two clash against Bredon at Lea Lane.

Bredon won the toss and elected to bat and accumulated runs steadily throughout the innings and posted a formidable 289 from their 50 overs, with Tim McVicker (65) top scoring for the visitors and Jaimen Rudd impressing with the ball (4-35).

Rudd capped an excellent all-round performance with another century (114) along with Jon Stanaway (103) producing their second 200 plus partnership in two weeks.

Cookley consistently kept up with the required rate of nearly six an over throughout the innings, but third change bowler Dominic Fenney (4-61) took wickets for Bredon at vital times which meant the Villagers ended up just short.

Cookley remain in second place and entertain Wormelow this weekend.

The seconds lost to Bredon by 35 runs and were left to rue dropped catches.

In Division Seven, Cookley's thirds went down by seven wickets to Stone.

Despite winning the toss, Cookley crumbled to 169 all out and Stone reachedthe target inside 38 overs.
