EWDLEY Town manager Phil Mullen was pleased to see his side lay the ghost of last season’s losing start to rest at the weekend.
The Ribbesford Meadow side roared to a 4-1 win at Ellesmere Rangers, with Chris Lojko, Tom Connolly, Luke Morris and Tom Pepperall on target.
Last season, Mullen suffered a disappointing day in charge of his first competitive Bewdley game as they suffered a 4-0 home loss to the same opponents.
On Wednesday night, they recorded a 2-0 win at Tipton to rise to top of the table.
He said: “It was a nice way to start the season and put what happened last season to rest."
“It’s never nice to lose your first game in charge by that margin.
“I am very happy with the balance of the squad and I am optimistic.”
Town entertain Dudley Town on Saturday (3pm ko) and visit Cradley next Tuesday (7.45pm ko).
