EXPERIENNCED defender Kelvin Langmead could be set to return to bolster the ranks for Kidderminster Harriers.

Gary Whild hopes to have him back in time to play a part in a crucial weekend which sees Harriers at home to National League leaders Forest Green on Saturday.

Sitting third bottom with two points from their opening five games, Kiddy then face a trip to the Wirral on Monday to play a Tranmere side who will be hoping for a speedy return to the Football League.

Whild said: "I'm hoping Kelvin will be available this weekend. He has had a heel injury which has been difficult to treat and has dragged on a bit.

"He is an experienced player and it will be good to have him back."

Whild's young side came close to their first win of the season at Gateshead last Saturday when they led through Gurjit Singh's goal only to be denied near the end by Ryan Bowman's leveller seven minutes from time.

It was though an encouraging performance and the Harriers boss feels a first win is just around the corner.

"In all fairness our performances have been good but we have young team who keep getting punished. But we are making a lot of chances and scoring goals, it's a tough level but it was a good performance to0 go there against a team which has started well, it's just unfortunate we couldn't get the win.

"It would be nice if we could get that first win against Forest Green, it's always good to play the team who are top, a team with their resources and budget who have had a fantastic start to the season.

We have got to concentrate on what we have been doing and the lads can believe in themselves. There are no easy games in this league, it's pretty much on the day and hopefully the lads can take confidence into the weekend.

"We've done a lot of travelling so far this season and that's been difficult and Tranmere are a massive club who just two seasons ago were in League One. It will be a tough game and they will be keen to bounce back straight away."

Both weekend fixtures kick off at 3pm.
