BEWDLEY Town’s bright start to the season now looks a distant past.

After flying out of the traps to win their first three games, Bewdley have since picked up just two points from their past seven outings.

As a result, the Ribbesford Meadow side have been sliding down the West Midlands League Premier table at an alarming rate.

Their latest defeat arrived last Saturday when they suffered a 4-1 reverse at home to Willenhall Town after Tom Connelly gave them a 16thminute lead.

Danny Hemmings levelled by half time before Paul Holden bagged a brace in the second half, with Eddie Wilson adding to Bewdley’s misery with a fourth goal in stoppage time.

Bewdley manager Phil Mullen said: “We had a good chat at training this week.

“A few harsh words were said and now I’m hoping the players will respond to it.

“I felt some of the players threw in the towel against Willenhall and had the game gone on much longer, Willenhall would have scored more.”

Bewdley host Wolverhampton Sporting on Saturday (3pm) and Ellesmere Rangers on Tuesday (7.45pm).
