STOURPORT Ladies drew 2-2 at home to Gloucester City in an entertaining Investec Western Women National League encounter.

Gloucester began the match with a punishing spell of pressure against the home side which resulted in a penalty corner, but they couldn’t take advantage.

The away side opened the scoring just before half-time.

Stourport were out of the blocks fastest in the second-half, with a fine goal by Lauren Shilvock making it 1-1.

Claire Pearson launched the ball into the back of the net to fire the hosts ahead but Stourport’s defence then fell victim to ill-discipline, as the away side responded with equalising goal.

Meanwhile, Stourport Ladies 2nds played their final pre-season game against their hosts Harborne thirds last weekend. The first half saw some excellent passing from Stourport who took the lead early in the game.

The Wyre Forest-based team continued to press Harborne and were rewarded with their second goal, an excellent strike into the top right corner by Olivia Laight.

Early in the second half Harborne bounced back with two quick goals.

But Stourport worked hard to gain control of the game and scored two more goals to secure a 4-2 victory.

Lucy Hawkes bagged four superb goals as the fifths got the better of Harborne 4-2 at home.

Youngster Hawkes weaved her way into the area before a reverse stick shot past the Harborne keeper fired Stourport ahead.

In the second half, Harborne hit back to take a 2-1 lead before Hawkes scored three more goals.
