SWIMMING: Thirteen swimmers from Wyre Forest’s top performance groups attended the Gloucester City Open Meet.

From a total of 71 swims, the squad achieved 62 county qualifying times.

Abbie Rowley, John McMahon and Jack Rowley also achieved regional qualifying times and head coach Lucy Walters acclaimed their efforts.

Head coach Lucy Walters stated that after so many personal best times and a host of swimmers earning county and regional qualification.

The success also bodes well for the new season and the County Championships which begin in January.

Wyre Forest medal winners: Eddie Cox (11 yrs) – gold - 400 individual medley (IM), silver - 200IM, 200m breaststroke, bronze – 200m backstroke.

Adam Newey (11 yrs) – silver - 50m backstroke, 200m backstroke, bronze – 400m freestyle, 200IM.

Alex Farmer (13 yrs) – silver – 200m backstroke.

John McMahon (16 yrs) – bronze – 50m butterfly, 400IM.

Jasmin Yates (10 yrs) – gold – 200m butterfly, silver – 50m backstroke, 200m backstroke.

Holly Workman (11 yrs) – silver – 50m freestyle, 200 breaststroke, bronze – 200m freestyle.

Abbie Rowley (14 yrs) – gold – 50m freestyle, 100m freestyle, 50m butterfly.

Also competing: Rosie Lane, Helena Shackleton, Emma Elwell, Matthew Newey, Harvey Thompson, Jack Rowley.
