KIDDERMINSTER and District Snooker League teams fought to move into the Championship Cup second round.

In the first match, Premier side Pockets S took on Pockets C of the First Division, with the former winning.

After the first three frames, which saw the C team leading, Pete Stokes produced a fine score of 75 to ensured the S team went into the doubles with a 41-point lead.

Charles Newey's break of 34 then won Pockets S the frame to put his side in round two.

The second game was another all-Pockets clash with the Premier League F team dominating the D side from Division One to win by 170 points.

Match three saw Wribbenhall of Division One taking on the Premierships Pockets B. Pockets dominated from the start with Tony Kidd scoring 63 in frame one, Richard Pepperall recording 85 in the second and Gareth Ward scoring 74 in frame three.

Despite losing frame four with Wribbenhall's Pete Gardner scoring 62, Pockets B won the match convincingly.

In an all-Division One clash, St John’s C were edged out 3-2 by St George’s.

The first two frames were shared, with St George's Jake Humphries scoring 73 in his frame.

St Georges held a slender lead of 24 going into round three, but the match was taken away from St Johns when Lee Page scored 121 after producing a 68 break.

The fifth match was another Premier League clash between Pockets A and Workmans A.

Pockets A got the better of Workman A as Mick Norwood scored 67 to lead Workmans took the first frame.

The second frame went to Pockets, with Conner Clark scoring 66.

After the third frame was drawn, Pockets clinched the fourth and survived a fightback in the doubles.

Workmans B team lost to Legion by 43 points.

In the penultimate clash, Pockets E were pushed all the way before edging out Division One outfit Chester Road by 12 points.

Going into the final doubles round, Chester were leading by 12 points but Pockets pair John Beton and Andy Smith sealed a narrow win.

In the final clash, Franche saw off St John’s E.
