KIDDERMINSTER Snooker League teams are competing in the Allan and John Cup.

The competition sees teams divided into three randomly-selected mini leagues with six sides each playing each other over a five-week period.

In the first match of league, Pockets D hosted club rivals Pockets C.

The C team edged the first frame but their opponents hit back to level, with Andy Grose scoring 74.

The next two frames were close but won by Pockets D.

The C side made a comeback by winning the final doubles frame but Pockets D won 3-2.

In the second match, Franche of the Premier League took on Division One side Wribbenhall.

The Premiership side showed their superiority by winning all four of the singles frames.

Wribbenhall showed grit by taking the doubles frame, meaning Franche won 4-1. The final match in this league saw the two Workmans teams playing each other.

Premiership side Workmans A proved too strong for the B side as they won 4-1, which puts them top of League A.

In League B, St Johns C took on Cookley. In a close clash Cookley won 3-2.

Pockets B hosted Chester Road, who won the first frame with Neil Chapman potting three tremendous shots on the blue, pink and black.

In the second frame, Richard Pepperall won convincingly for Pockets, making a 44 break.

The third frame was another tense black ball game going this time to Pockets. Pockets also won the final two games to secure a 4-1 success., with Tom and Richard Pepperall scoring 71 in the doubles St Johns D of the Premier League were away to British Legion of Division One and ran out 5-0 winners.

At the top of League B it is very close after two matches with St Johns D on 12 points and Pockets B only one point behind on 11 points.

The third Mini League saw Pockets S taking on stablemates Pockets A.

The S team took first blood winning the opening singles frame but were then beaten in the next three singles frames with Jay Shuck of the A side scoring 70 in his frame.

Despite doubles success for the S team, Pockets A won 3-2.

Pockets F took on St Johns B and took the first frame, with Richard Costello scoring 95 points.

St Johns hit back through James Allington, but Pockets won the next two singles frame with Paul Crisp scoring 84 in his frame.

The doubles frame went to St Johns, thus the score was 3-2 to Pockets F.

The third match in this league between St Georges and Pockets E was cancelled. At the top of League C, Pockets A and St Johns E are tied on eight points apiece.
